Keep the supplied compatible nozzle when it already controls your working section. Consider a wider compatible outlet for a broad pass or a precision outlet for narrower placement—but verify the exact dryer and connection first.
Compare within one dryer generation
The UK ghd Halo Wide Smoothing Concentrator and Professional Precision Styling Concentrator are documented for the ghd Speed ionic hair dryer. Keeping the appliance constant avoids mistaking a different motor, control or connection for a nozzle effect. Compatibility stated for Speed does not transfer to Helios, Air or another brand.
| Task | Compatible option to inspect | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Broad section and long pass | Halo wide outlet; UK page labels it 88 mm | Broad coverage still needs a controllable section and supported movement. |
| Narrow placement near a brush or selected section | Professional precision outlet | A smaller placement area is not proof of higher speed or heat. |
| Ordinary controlled drying | Supplied compatible nozzle | No extra purchase is needed when fit and placement already work. |
| Different dryer model | Only its documented attachment | Similar appearance does not establish fit or safe retention. |
Width, depth and fit are separate
Outlet width is the longer opening dimension; depth is the shorter front-to-back opening. Neither equals the internal passage or measured airflow. Check connection type, orientation, retention and included-versus-optional status from the exact accessory page. Do not force an attachment, improvise an adapter or assume a magnetic accessory shares geometry with another dryer.
Use the chosen nozzle as documented
Fit or remove the attachment only under the appliance directions. Align airflow with the working section and keep the nozzle moving as the method requires. The concentrator method guide owns that movement; the diffuser comparison owns the attachment-format decision.
Sources checked 13 October 2026: the official UK Halo wide page states Speed compatibility, magnetic connection and an 88 mm outlet; the official UK professional precision page is the exact narrower accessory record. Manufacturer coverage and finish claims remain attributed and are not treated as independent measurements.
Map the outlet to the section before buying
Hold a ruler beside the intended working section with the dryer switched off. Compare that breadth with the published outlet width, remembering that the external attachment body may be wider than its opening. Then check whether a brush-led or hand-led section can follow the same route without the air path spilling onto finished hair. This is planning, not an airflow calculation.
A broad outlet can cover more of a broad section, yet that section still has to be controlled. A precision outlet can make placement easier to see, yet a smaller opening does not establish higher speed or heat. Motor design, controls and internal passages remain part of the whole appliance. Keep those unknowns separate from the published dimension.
Check what arrives in the box
An accessory sold separately is not necessarily included. Record its exact product name, market, connection and included status before comparing cost. If the supplied concentrator already locks in place and supports the intended section, keep it rather than buying another opening on geometry alone. If fit is loose, stop and confirm compatibility with the manufacturer instead of wedging or taping the attachment.
