The
UK Ultimate Detangler Matte
page describes longer teeth for detangling and shorter teeth for smoothing, a
matte finish and a handled shape. It advises removing loose hair, occasional
washing with warm water and mild soap or shampoo, air drying, and keeping the
brush away from heat. The
US Original Detangler Frost Black
page describes flexible IntelliFlex bristles, an ergonomic design and wet or
dry use. Its promotional breakage and comfort claims are presented with its
own test caveat; they do not constitute a direct test against this Tangle
Teezer variant.
Contact-layout sketch, schematic rather than a test result

What might change the choice
Someone who prefers the feel of alternating tooth lengths and a textured matte
grip has a documented reason to examine the Tangle Teezer. Someone who prefers
a flexible-bristle layout and a familiar handled brush may examine the Wet
Brush. Neither source gives a consistent comparable measurement of pulling
force, pain, breakage or ease across these two exact items, so do not rank
them on that basis. If you already own a detangler that works comfortably and
is in good condition, there is no evidence that switching brands will improve
the result.
Both products have variant families. “Ultimate Detangler” also appears in
naturally curly and other designs; Wet Brush has mini, pro and heat-oriented
lines. Do not move a heat permission, size or care direction between them. The
Tangle Teezer Matte restriction is explicit. For the broader question of
whether any detangler can be used near a dryer, see
heat-use permissions. For a broader shortlist, see
detangling brush selection.
Use a simple in-hand check
Where possible, hold the exact brush and inspect grip, head reach and whether
its contact pieces remain intact; do not infer a universal winner from a
product photo. Start detangling from the ends and work through manageable
sections as the maker permits. If bristles or teeth are bent, loose or
difficult to clean, the
replacement guide
is more relevant than a brand comparison. The
brush versus comb owner
covers a different tool-choice question.
Before you replace a working tool
Is there a documented reason to change?
Tick each statement only when the article or exact product source supports it.
Your answers stay in this page session and are not used to build a personal profile.
No replacement case yet
Start with the task your current tool cannot perform. If there is no missing task, keep the tool you have.
This checklist organises your decision. It does not test products or predict results.
Let the evidence decide only the feature it covers
The linked UK Tangle Teezer page supports its two-tier tooth description and
that model's away-from-heat care direction. The linked US Wet Brush page
supports its IntelliFlex description and stated wet/dry use for that exact
version. Neither source measures the same section on the same user or
establishes which brush detangles faster, pulls less or gives a better result.
If your current brush is intact and works within its directions, neither set
of specifications creates a reason to replace it.
